2015 will be our 17th year of making music
on the grounds of the Chautauqua Institution.
The Chautauqua Music Camps features four camps in one. Woodwind, brass and percussion students finishing grades 5-8 are eligible for our Middle School Band Camp. The Chautauqua Orchestra Camp is for high school and advanced middle school string students finishing grades 6-12. Returning for a sixth year will be the Chautauqua Jazz Camp for saxophone, trombone, trumpet, and rhythm section students finishing grades 9-12. After a successful first year, we will again offer a Chamber Music Camp for brass and woodwind players finishing grades 9-12. Instructors for our camps include members of the Chautauqua Symphony, as well as highly skilled teachers from around Western New York.
We are excited this year for two reasons. First, we are continuing our association with Pittsburgh-based, Three Rivers Young Peoples Orchestras. The Orchetsra Camp will be bigger than ever and is moving into Fletcher Hall. Second, the Middle School Band Camp will premier a new work with composer-in-residence, Mr. Richard Victor.
The Chautauqua Institution is home to a world-class Symphony Orchestra, Summer Opera Company, and Collegiate Summer Music Program. During the day, students will be able to enjoy many of the recreational activities available on the grounds. With their gate pass, students will be able to attend many of the evening events at the Institution for no extra charge during the week of the camp.
